Transparent Illusion -Still Human LP (1981)

The HOLY GRAIL for minimal synth nuts. Roy Young recorded this album in 1981 and released it on his own VEX label.

Track #10 is unplayable.

Well, some tracks are not bad, but THE HOLY GRAIL? Maybe for collecting reasons, but musically? The synth sounds are quite nice, but the singing and songwriting isn't. Singers that accompany the main instrument's line sound always silly, don't they? Imho no comparison to Dark Day, Snowy Red's second album to just name two.

Yes, this is 'holy grail' material. Not that its the best music, but its very rare, and sought after recording. Do a little research on Roy Young :)

Thanks very much for this!

Every time I listen to this album it makes me want to come on here and say how much I enjoy it. Iam not sure why this is such an incredible album. It isn't more brillant than anything else, but it has such endearing qualitites that I can't explain. A Great Album. Have been enjoying it for months and months. Thanx. Why are there not more albums by TPIL? I can find very little about them or Roy Young.

As a strong fan of minimal wave, I must say I hardly like this. To me, the singing is just terrible and not even interesting. What a pity.

This album singlehandedly got me into minimal synth. The arrangements and melodies are perfect, they invoke weird emotions in me.

I actually enjoy the vocals a lot too, they lend a kind of tortured genious vibe to the music much akin to syd barrett (although syd could actually hold tune).

Listening to it again today, I like it a lot more. Actually the singing is not bad at all, Shaman's expression "tortured genious vibe" meets it exactly.

According to a discogs, there was another lp that came in 82, and another single. When will these show up? We must hear them...

The lp was charin receiver, and the single was guilty rich man. Perhaps somewhere in the world there are these albums still existing for us to hear? I do hope so....

For anyone interested and unaware, Anna Logue records announced that it will be releasing this on c.d and vinyl. There are two bonus tracks added on(Demo-vortex), and some unreleased song.So fellow must have gotten ahold of Roy. I'll be ordering me a copy to say the least ;)

If anyone's looking the original 1981 vinyl album, there's a nice copy ending on eBay this evening which is still at a pretty reasonable price.
